Man Killed by Train in Rochelle

ROCHELLE – A 75-year-old man was struck and killed by a westbound Union Pacific freight train near Main Street and 2nd Avenue on Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities. Rochelle police and firefighters responded at 3:51 p.m. and found the man unresponsive on the tracks just west of the crossing. Emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials do not suspect foul play. The Rochelle Police Department, Union Pacific Police, and the Ogle County Coroner’s Office are investigating. The victim’s name has not been released.
