CHICAGO – A man faces murder and arson charges in the death of a Chicago firefighter last week. Sheaves Slate is accused of setting the March 16th fire on the Far North Side that led to the death of Firefighter Michael Altman. Prosecutors claim Slate was squatting in a building in the 1700 block of West North Shore Avenue and started the blaze in the basement after arguing with two tenants. He was ordered detained during a hearing on Saturday.
