MALTA – A Kentucky woman was injured Thursday morning in a single vehicle crash east of Malta, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were called around 7:30 a.m. to Route 64 about a half mile east of Malta Road for a report of a crash with injuries. Authorities said the 32-year-old Lexington, Kentucky woman was driving eastbound when she allegedly fell asleep at the wheel, left the roadway to the north and struck a culvert, causing her SUV to overturn. She was taken by Malta Fire to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital with minor injuries. No citations were reported.
