Illinois Unveils Plans For Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary

CHICAGO —  Illinois will be celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary next year.  Governor Pritzker announced last month a series of statewide initiatives to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.  The Illinois America 250 Commission was established to organize a statewide celebration.  So far, 68 counties are involved in the planning, and 93 communities have passed resolutions to participate.  Hundreds of museums, historic sites, and cultural institutions are already hosting exhibits, tours, performances, and festivals tied to the anniversary.
