Illinois Lawmakers Request State Election Board Compliance on Voter Roll Oversight

WASHINGTON DC — Illinois Congressmen Darin LaHood, Mike Bost, and Congresswoman Mary Miller sent a letter to the Illinois State Board of Elections this week requesting information on the accuracy of the state’s voter rolls and compliance with the National Voter Registration Act. The request follows a January 22 House Administration Committee inquiry that identified deficiencies in voter list maintenance, including counties reporting few or no voter removals in 2024 and failures to provide required data to the Election Assistance Commission. The lawmakers called for a transparent and complete response ahead of early voting beginning February 5, citing concerns that they claim could undermine public confidence in the state’s elections.
