Illinois Department of Corrections Launches Tablet Education Portal for Inmates

SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Department of Corrections has launched a new educational content portal called Journey to Success on tablets used in facilities statewide, expanding access to learning resources for individuals in custody. The portal is part of the Edovo application and offers thousands of free courses and materials that can be accessed during free time, including topics such as parenting, reentry preparation, and basic education. Officials said more than 31,000 individuals have used the platform since it was introduced in July 2025, completing hundreds of thousands of courses and logging millions of hours of learning. The new portal includes reentry resources, law library materials, and health education content, with plans for continued updates. Department leaders said the program is designed to support personal and professional development while complementing classroom instruction. The tablets also provide communication tools and access to other educational platforms as part of broader efforts to improve access to technology and strengthen rehabilitation programs within state correctional facilities.
