IDFPR Highlights Licensing Support for Veterans and Military Families

CHICAGO — The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation is recognizing National Veterans and Military Families Month by promoting licensing resources for active service members, their spouses, and veterans whose active duty ended within the past two years. IDFPR’s Military Liaison assists applicants throughout the licensing process, helping them obtain professional credentials quickly and increasing support from 390 applicants in 2020 to 1,179 in 2024. The department also offers a military portability process that allows service members and spouses with active professional licenses from other states to practice in Illinois under reduced requirements while stationed in the state. IDFPR licenses more than 1.2 million professionals across 120 industries and reviews qualifying applications within 30 days of receiving all required documents.
