Hinckley House Fire Leaves Home Uninhabitable

HINCKLEY — A residential fire in Hinckley left a home uninhabitable Saturday night in the one hundred block of East Miller Avenue, according to the Hinckley Fire Protection District. Fire crews were called at 9:17 p.m. after a report of fire in the attic, and arriving units found heavy smoke coming from the eaves of a one and a half story single family home with flames visible from the attic area. A MABAS box alarm was requested, bringing multiple mutual aid departments to the scene. The main body of the fire was knocked down within about 15 minutes, with crews remaining on scene for overhaul and to help residents retrieve belongings. No injuries were reported, however several pets were rescued, one cat was found deceased and another was unaccounted for. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and is not considered suspicious.
