Funding Secured for Prairie Band Potawatomi Tribal Administration Buildings

WASHINGTON DC – Representative Lauren Underwood announced $1 million in Community Project Funding to support the construction of governmental office space for the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation near Shabbona. The buildings will serve as a hub for government services for both the tribe and nearby residents. Following the U.S. Department of the Interior placing portions of the Shab-eh-nay Reservation into trust in April 2024, this represents the first federally recognized tribal land in Illinois, helping the Nation exercise sovereignty and re-establish roots on their ancestral land.
