Flagg Township Museum To Host Chautauqua At The Museum

ROCHELLE — The Flagg Township Museum will host Chautauqua at the Museum from March 23 through March 26 with evening programs from 7 to 8 p.m. The event is part of the museum’s year long theme We the People marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Chautauqua began in upstate New York in the 1870s and grew into a national movement that brought lectures, music, drama, and educational programs to communities across the country. This year’s series will include two trivia nights and two guest speakers along with refreshments inspired by historic and local recipes.

Jan Devore, Flagg-Township Museum Director.

“Chautauqua is kind of focusing on America’s 250th and then a smaller kind of Rochelle version. All of our programming this year is kind of centered around the idea of ‘We The People’”.

Programs are free and open to the public at the museum.
