ROCHELLE — The 400 block of Fifth Avenue in downtown Rochelle will be closed during the week of March 16 as part of the city’s downtown reconstruction project. City officials say contractor Helm Electric will install underground electrical infrastructure during the closure. Visitors to the Rochelle Post Office are asked to park along Lincoln Highway or in the public parking lot at Lincoln Highway and Sixth Avenue. The post office mailbox in the alley will remain open and accessible but will be located slightly farther down the alley with signage directing access. Officials say the project could be affected by weather conditions. Detour signs and other temporary traffic control devices will be posted near the work zone, and motorists are asked to use caution while traveling through the area.
