Durbin Duckworth Announce Federal Funding For O Hare Airport

CHICAGO — U.S. Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth have announced $20 million in federal funding for O Hare International Airport through the Federal Aviation Administration to reimburse completed work extending a runway and support increased aircraft operations and reduced delays. The funding covers the extension of Runway 9R 27L and is part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure at one of the nation’s busiest airports, which recorded more than 857,000 aircraft operations in 2025. The senators say the investment will help improve travel efficiency and safety while supporting future growth at the airport.
