DUI Arrest After Pursuit Near Polo

POLO — A 16-year-old Polo boy was arrested Friday night after deputies attempted a traffic stop near North Freeport Road and West Canada Road and the SUV allegedly fled, entered a ditch several times, and later disappeared from view before the pursuit was terminated. According to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies soon found the unoccupied SUV in a ditch near South Brookville Road and West Robin Road, and the boy returned to the scene during the investigation. He was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and fleeing to elude a peace officer and was also cited for driving with a blood alcohol level of point zero eight or more, failure to dim headlights, illegal consumption and possession of alcohol as a minor, improper lane use, driving without taillights, and illegal stopping on the roadway. He was released to a guardian on a notice to appear.
