DEKALB – DeKalb Township received the Innovative Senior Program of the Year Award from the Township Officials of Illinois for its Wise & Well Senior Summit, held August 21, 2025, in DeKalb. The event, the first of its kind in the township, featured 80 speakers and 35 sessions covering topics such as home safety, scam prevention, financial wellness, end-of-life planning, technology, and travel, providing seniors with practical resources in one setting. The summit was developed and managed by Community Relations and Events Coordinator Kimberly Barrios with support from township staff, trustees, and community volunteers, highlighting local cooperation and engagement.
