DeKalb Man Faces Weapons And Drug Charges After Search Warrant

DEKALB — The DeKalb Police Department and the DeKalb County Special Operations Team executed a court authorized search warrant Feb. 27 at 1016 North 15th Street in DeKalb and later arrested Michael K. Lange, 28, of DeKalb, at a residence in Maple Park without incident. Authorities said the DeKalb residence was unoccupied during the search. Officers reported seizing 16 firearms, including rifles, handguns and shotguns, high capacity magazines and ammunition, two Glock switches capable of converting a semi automatic pistol to fully automatic fire, more than 2,000 grams of cannabis, a large quantity of prescription drugs, more than 15 grams but less than 100 grams of suspected cocaine, body armor and suspected homemade explosives that were removed by the Kane County Bomb Squad. Lange was taken to the DeKalb Police Department for processing and then to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office to await a bond hearing.

He is charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon involving body armor, 16 counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, one count of unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, one count of unlawful possession of cannabis and one count of unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon.
