SYCAMORE — The DeKalb County Board this week approved several solar related measures including a name correction for a previously approved project, a new solar facility in Cortland Township, and a timeline extension for a large-scale development in Afton Township. The board approved a resolution to correct the applicant name for a 4.99 megawatt solar project in Franklin Township from TPE Development LLC to TPE IL DE35 LLC for a site located at Scout Road and Lost Acre Lane. Board members also approved a special use permit for a 2 megawatt commercial solar energy system on a 22 acre property at the northeast corner of Barber Greene and Fenstermaker roads in Cortland Township following a public hearing that included opposition from six residents, with the measure passing by roll call vote with three no votes. In addition, the board approved a resolution to extend the construction timeline for the Red Maple Solar project in Afton Township, a 300 megawatt development spread across about 1,839 acres and 22 parcels, allowing up to 24 months to complete construction after work begins instead of the previous one year requirement, with that measure also passing with three opposing votes.
