DeKalb Council To Consider Funding For Barb City Manor Repairs

DEKALB — The DeKalb City Council is expected to consider a request Monday for 100 thousand dollars in funding for capital repairs at Barb City Manor, an independent retirement center located at 680 Haish Boulevard. City officials said the funds would be used to replace limestone caps on parapet walls, deteriorating exterior doors, and several boiler valves at the historic former hospital building owned by the city. The city has committed 50 thousand dollars annually for preservation under a ten year lease agreement with Barb City Manor, and the current request would combine the 2025 and 2026 allocations. Officials said past funding has supported elevator replacements, boiler system repairs, and parking lot improvements. The proposal will be discussed during the council meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday
