DEKALB — The DeKalb City Council approved the purchase Monday night of two single axle dump truck chassis and a related upfitting agreement to support the city’s Street Division fleet Monday night. Officials said the city will spend up to $223,394 to buy the chassis from TransChicago Truck Group, replacing two trucks that are more than 20 years old and used for snow and ice control, leaf collection, and general work. The council also approved an agreement with Bonnell Industries to upfit the trucks at a cost not to exceed $260,585.64. City officials said the combined purchases lock in pricing, comply with state purchasing rules, and ensure the new vehicles will be ready for service by late 2027.
