Deceased Individual Identified as Oregon Elementary Staff Member

OREGON – A social media post from Oregon Consolidated School District Unit 220 has confirmed that the death investigation that began Friday in rural Oregon is regarding the passing of one of their own. Superintendent P.J. Caposey announced on Monday afternoon counselors and staff will be available Tuesday for students. The Ogle County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the death of Jill Bier. She was listed as an aid on the district website.

The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed there is no danger to the public following the discovery Bier deceased on March 7th in the 4000 block of E IL Route 64 in rural Oregon, Illinois. Authorities have conducted search warrants, interviews, and an autopsy, but her cause of death remains undetermined pending toxicology results and further evidence review.

The investigation is ongoing with assistance from the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit, the Illinois Fire Marshal’s Office, the Ogle County Coroner’s Office, and the Peoria County Medical Examiner.

“This is a heartbreaking moment for our school community, and our priority is helping our students navigate it with care and support,” said Caposey.
