Creston Receives Update On Water Main And Infrastructure Projects

CRESTON — Creston Village Trustees on Tuesday heard an update from Matthew Hansen of Willett Hofmann on several projects including the West Street water main improvements with an estimated total cost of $244,850.50. The project includes valves and hydrants at four intersections and is expected to be completed in July. The water tower project is set to begin April 28 and will include draining, cleaning and refilling the tower after the installation of a stirring mechanism to reduce sediment buildup. The work is expected to take less than 20 days. Three pressure regulators are planned to maintain water supply to the village, but residents could see reduced pressure or rusty water during the work. The village plans to apply for a lead service line grant with a goal of completing the residential survey by the end of August.  Trustees noted that recent heavy rainfall tested the new drainage work last year with good results. The village is also considering street sweeping pending pricing. Nine street lights have been installed in the new subdivision by Rochelle Municipal Utilities with nine more planned.
