Chicago Man Charged in Stolen Vehicle Pursuit Case

ROCHELLE — A 34-year-old Chicago man is now in custody in connection with a May 9th police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle that traveled through Winnebago and Ogle counties and ended in Rochelle, according to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said they attempted to stop a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was reported stolen near Illinois Route 251 and Eddy Road, but the vehicle fled at speeds over 100 mph and continued onto multiple roads, including Illinois Route 64, Interstate 39, and Illinois Route 38, before entering Rochelle city limits. The pursuit was later terminated. Investigators identified Jesus A. Castillo of Chicago as the driver and noted he was already in custody at the Cook County Jail on unrelated charges at the time a warrant was issued for possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Castillo will be transferred to the Ogle County Jail at a later date.
