Chicago Confirms Fist Rabies Positive Dog In Illinois In Decades

CHICAGO – Chicago officials say they’re reporting the first case of a dog with rabies in more than 40 years.  The Cook County Department of Animal and Rabies Control confirmed the canine that tested positive today. The dog was vaccinated for rabies in June but showed a dramatic change in behavior on December 16.  The animal was put to sleep and tested for rabies. Thirteen people have been exposed to the canine and have started treatment.
