BYRON – The City of Byron will be exploring different options when it comes to trying to make the bridge over the Rock River safer for pedestrians at night. Director of Public Works Aaron Vincer said they will be having a meeting with IDOT Region 2 Engineer Trisha Thompson next week about working together for lighting options. The bridge is owned by the state, and any improvements attached to the structure could only be installed with their permission. Last month the City Council considered installing solar lights on their own, but according to Vincer, that has been put on hold.
“We’ve scheduled a meeting with IDOT,” he said, “and we’re going to see what options are available to us.”
