BYRON – Last week, jurors in the trial of Duane Meyer, accused of killing his ex-wife, 31-year-old Margaret Meyer, and their 3-year-old son Amos in a 2016 Byron house fire, heard testimony that the fire started on or near the couch where Margaret’s body was found and that her injuries were consistent with blunt force trauma and possible strangulation. Investigators presented photos of the home, burn patterns, text messages, and witness statements, while forensic experts said Amos likely died from smoke inhalation. Meyer has pleaded not guilty to four counts of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated arson, and one count of concealment of a homicidal death. The trial resumes today.
