SPRINGFIELD – Illinois lawmakers are working to close gaps in protection orders for survivors of domestic violence. Senator Steve Stadelman, of Rockford, said the state is responsible for making sure emergency protection orders remain intact through the time when judges issue more long-term orders. Stadelman said, “Victims deserve protection all the way through the process.” He said he was inspired to file the bill after a constituent explained about her “no-contact” stalking order that failed to protect her from her harasser.
