Attorney General Raoul Demands GoFundMe Remove Unauthorized Charity Pages

CHICAGO – Attorney General Kwame Raoul and 21 other state attorneys general and charitable regulators called on GoFundMe to provide proof it has removed all donation web pages created without charities’ consent. The coalition said the company plagiarized pages for more than 1.4 million charities, including inaccurate and misleading information, and raised concerns that donations may not have reached the intended organizations. Officials cited potential violations of state charitable solicitation and consumer protection laws and requested details on how GoFundMe handled donations and prevented its pages from appearing above official charity sites in search results.
