Another Hotel Could be Built Near Rochelle I-39 Interchange

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council on Monday may consider a resolution authorizing the sale of about 2.5 acres of surplus city owned land at Technology Parkway, raising the possibility of another hotel near the I-39 interchange. Up Next Hospitality has submitted a letter of intent to purchase the property for $2 per square foot based on the surveyed land area, for a total purchase price of $218,000. The parcels are located adjacent to existing development at the site, and the proposed use is for hotel development. Under the proposed agreement, the city would split the cost of the property plats, with the developer paying the cost upfront and receiving a credit at closing if the sale is approved.
