2018 Galesburg Death Remains Under Investigation 

GALESBURG —  Illinois State police continue to investigate the 2018 death of Tyler Smith in Galesburg.  Authorities say Galesburg police were called out in September 2018 on a report of a body in the Cedar Fork Creek.  The body was identified as Smith, a man from Rochelle.  The 23-year-old was in Galesburg with friends the night before he was to attend his last National Guard Drill Weekend in Macomb.  An initial autopsy revealed he died as a result of a drowning.  After a second autopsy, the circumstances surrounding his death are still undetermined.
