Frontline Females Camp Planned in Ogle County

OREGON — The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office is inviting women age 16 and older to attend the Frontline Females Camp June 1 through June 3 at its Public Safety Building in Oregon. The three day camp runs from 8:30 am to 4 pm each day and gives participants hands-on experience in investigations, special operations, communications, corrections, canine work, and emergency response, with meals provided at no cost. Emily Hardesty of the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office said, “We brought in a wide variety of speakers who are all law enforcement officers. We covered everything from the Department of Natural Resources, drone operations, investigations, canine, and crime scene investigations.” Ali VanVickle of the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office said female representation is important,“It’s usually about 12% of the law enforcement population is female and the other 88% is male. So we’re trying to bump those numbers up because women in law enforcement really matter.” Those interested can register by scanning the QR code on the event flyer.
