Byron — The Rock River Valley Blood Center will host a community blood drive Thursday, May 28, at United Church of Byron, 701 West Second Street in Byron, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Officials said the center serves 14 area hospitals and depends on regular donations to meet ongoing patient needs. Donors are asked to bring a photo ID. Maggie Anderson said summer travel often reduces donor turnout while hospital demand remains steady.
Anderson said, “We rely on community donors to keep blood available for patients in need. Even small increases in participation help make a big difference for local hospitals.”
