ROCHELLE — Authorities have identified the driver killed in a crash following a police pursuit Friday as 25-year-old Cheyenne M. Gartman of Dixon. The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office said deputies attempted to stop a vehicle linked to recent burglaries and outstanding warrants, but the driver allegedly fled and did not yield. Deputies deployed stop sticks several times between Oregon and Rochelle. Officials said the vehicle left the roadway and traveled through fields and a waterway to avoid them. The vehicle later entered a ditch along Illinois Route 38 and overturned multiple times. Gartman was ejected and taken to Rochelle Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Two passengers were injured. They were identified as 34-year-old Kayla Morgan Poff of Prophetstown and 33-year-old Stanley Griffin of Sterling. Both were airlifted to St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. The investigation is ongoing.
