MAPLE PARK — The Illinois State Police have identified the man killed in an officer involved shooting on Interstate 88 Monday as 36-year-old Joseph Moreno. Authorities said the incident began around 3:10 p.m. when a Naperville police officer located a vehicle tied to a missing person reported to be in a mental health crisis. The driver allegedly displayed a firearm and fled. Warrenville police later located the vehicle and began a pursuit that entered I-88 westbound. State police assisted and used spike strips near Keslinger Road where the vehicle stopped. Authorities said both the driver and a Warrenville police officer allegedly fired shots. The driver was wounded and later pronounced dead at a hospital. No other injuries were reported. The case remains under investigation.
