Brooks Expected To Be Appointed Byron City Treasurer

BYRON — The Byron City Council is expected to appoint Brian Brooks as city treasurer at its meeting tonight after he stepped down as city administrator in August 2025. Brooks took on the administrator role in January 2023 after returning to the city in 2022 when the position was reinstated. He previously served as Byron’s first city administrator in the 1990s after beginning his career as city attorney. He left in 2000 and spent nearly 20 years with a national affordable housing developer before later working with a Chicago nonprofit focused on low income housing development. He is now set to take on the duties of city treasurer.
