DEKALB – Several incumbent lawmakers and county officials representing Lee, Ogle, and DeKalb counties are facing active challenges as the Tuesday primary approaches. In the 89th House District, Republican incumbent Tony McCombie is being challenged by Victoria Onorato for the party nomination. Local county board seats also feature contested matchups, with DeKalb County Board incumbents Rhonda Henke and Patrick Deutsch facing opposition from Fredrick Hall and Carmen Polvere, respectively. While many state-level incumbents like Bradley Fritts and Darin LaHood are running unopposed in their primaries, others are preparing for general election battles. DeKalb County Clerk Tasha Sims and Treasurer Becky Springer both have Democratic challengers in Douglas Janicke and Derek Shaw.
