BYRON — The Byron City Council reviewed the 2026 street improvement program, including slurry sealing and hot mix asphalt overlays based on the city’s five-year plan, with a total estimated cost of $663,000. Work is planned on residential streets and major roads, with additional attention to Bel Air Drive, where more extensive work may be needed before sealing due to pavement conditions.

Council members also discussed proposed sewer lining for some of the city’s oldest mains, dating back to the 1950s, to reduce backups and root intrusion. The project is estimated at $235,000, with the option to remove manhole lining to lower costs, and will help limit long-term maintenance issues.
