Illinois State Police Arrest Rockford Police Officer In Home Repair Fraud And Theft Case

ROCKFORD – Illinois State Police say a Rockford police officer has been arrested following an investigation into alleged home repair fraud and theft. Authorities say 35-year-old Corey Roser of Rockford was arrested by Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 2 special agents on five counts of theft of property over $500 but less than $10,000, four counts of home repair fraud and one count of official misconduct. Police say the Rockford Police Department requested the investigation into Roser’s on duty and off duty business practices tied to multiple alleged offenses in 2024 and 2025, and Roser was placed on administrative leave at the start of the investigation and remained on leave throughout. Investigators say their findings were submitted to the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, which issued an arrest warrant, and Roser turned himself in to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office February 2nd. The investigation remains ongoing, and Illinois State Police are asking anyone with information to contact investigators.
