DeKalb County Foundation Distributes 949 Kindergarten Toolkits to Local Families

SYCAMORE –  The DeKalb County Community Foundation distributed 949 Kindergarten Readiness Toolkits to families across eight public school districts and three private schools in DeKalb County last month. Each toolkit includes a children’s book, dry-erase board and marker, flashcards, an easy-grip pencil, counting dice, scissors, Play-Doh, crayons, and a memory game to help children build skills needed for kindergarten. The toolkits support literacy, motor skills, emotional development, and creativity. Since 2018, more than 7,000 children have received a toolkit through this effort, which is supported by community donors and partners including Thrivent Financial, School Tool Box, DeKalb County Farm Bureau Agricultural Literacy, and BASICS DeKalb County.
