I’m Delilah! I’m 2½ years old, weigh about 65 pounds, and I’ve been waiting a little longer than most to find my human. Maybe that’s because I’m not a one-size-fits-all kind of girl… but for the right person, I’ll be your ideal. I’m a curious, confident girl who loves walks, sniffing every new smell, and exploring the great outdoors. Seriously, my nose is amazing — I notice everything and I love going on adventures. A fenced yard where I can sniff, dig a little, and soak up the sunshine would be my dream! I’m also crate-trained and love my quiet time. A little trail of treats leading into my crate? That’s how you’ll win my heart! I’m super food-motivated and will happily show off my skills — I know “sit,” “paw,” and “shake,” and I’m always up for learning more (especially if snacks are involved ). When I’m relaxed, I can be a total sweetheart — I’ll sometimes roll over and show you my tummy for gentle pets, or snooze by your side on the cool tile floor. I don’t need constant attention, but I love those quiet, calm moments with my favorite person.
Now, I like to be honest about my quirks: I do best as the only pet in the home (I’m not a fan of other dogs), and I’d prefer a house without young kids. I can get a little too excited sometimes — especially when playing or greeting people — but I’m working on it and doing great with positive training. I also have something called “Tight Mouth Syndrome” (common in Shar Peis like me!) which just means I need a little mouthwash after eating — easy peasy. What I’m really looking for is someone patient and dog-savvy who’ll keep helping me learn, love me for who I am, and give me a safe space to just be Delilah.
