Oregon City Council Considers New Fence Ordinance Guidelines

OREGON – The Oregon City Council is reviewing amendments to the city’s fence ordinance following a unanimous recommendation from the Planning Commission. The new guidelines would allow cattle or “country” fencing with specific conditions, including the installation of railing along all three sides to cover sharp edges, post spacing no greater than eight feet, and a minimum wire gauge of 5 for durability. The updated ordinance also includes new permit requirements for constructing fences in residential or commercial areas, such as detailed plans, property pin locations, and guidelines for materials and construction.
