Missing Persons Identification Act to Take Effect Jan. 1

SPRINGFIELD — A new Illinois law taking effect Jan. 1 will change how missing persons investigations are handled. The Missing Persons Identification Act, signed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker in December, requires law enforcement to immediately take and enter reports into the Law Enforcement Agencies Data System and eliminates any waiting period before filing a missing persons report.
