The Rochelle City Council last night unanimously passed a non-home rule municipal retailers, occupation service occupation tax of chapter 91, a quarter of a percent. This will replace the 1% sales tax on groceries that was lost. This will take effect January 1st of 2026.
A special use permit was approved unanimously for a child care center as a part of the planned unit development at 450 Coronado Drive.
The Council also unanimously passed on approving a setback variance at 4410 Willis Avenue for a fecne. After discussions, some limitations were put on the fence. It must be an ornamental fence, no chain link and limited to four feet high.
