Illinois Payroll Jobs Hit Record High in March

CHICAGO – Nonfarm payroll jobs in Illinois rose by nearly 15,000 in March to a record high of 6,172,300, according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The government sector saw the largest monthly job growth. The state’s unemployment rate held steady at 4.8 percent, while the national rate stood at 4.2 percent.
