Illinois Wheat Checkoff Program Approved by Producers

SPRINGFIELD – Illinois wheat producers have approved a voluntary wheat checkoff program with a 1.5 cent per bushel assessment, following a statewide vote of 207 to 69. The Illinois Department of Agriculture certified the results and will work with the Illinois Wheat Checkoff Committee to prepare for the fall 2025 election of board members. The program, which takes effect January 1, 2026, was established under the Illinois Wheat Development Act to support market growth, research and industry development.
