ROCHELLE – A juvenile was seriously injured Monday morning after being struck by a vehicle while riding an electric scooter on Lakeview Drive near Ninth Street in Rochelle. Rochelle police said the crash was reported at approximately 10:20 a.m. The juvenile suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries to a lower extremity and was initially taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a regional facility. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Rochelle Police Sgt. Ryan Beery reminded drivers and scooter riders to stay alert as electric bikes and scooters become more common on local roadways.
