Man Dies in Crash With Bridge in Ogle County

ROCHELLE – A man died Sunday afternoon after his pickup truck left the roadway and struck the Route 38 bridge over I-39 near mile marker 99. Rochelle Fire Department Captain Zach Prewett said crews were called at about 2:53 p.m. and found the truck had traveled into the cloverleaf area near the Route 38 exit before striking the bridge abutment. The man was the truck’s only occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities stated no other vehicles were involved. Responding agencies included Illinois State Police, the Ogle County Coroner’s Office, Rochelle Fire Department, Ogle-Lee Fire Protection District, Rochelle Police Department and the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office. Illinois State Police are investigating the crash.
