SUBLETTE — Three EF1 tornadoes have been confirmed following Sunday night’s storms in Lee and LaSalle counties, according to the National Weather Service. The Lee County Emergency Management Agency was notified by a weather spotter in Sublette that radar indicated rotation near Shaw Road east of Inlet Road. Deputies responding to the area found trees blocking roads and building debris, while EMA personnel checked homes and identified hazards along the suspected storm path. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois Department of Transportation, Lee County Highway Department, Lee Center Township, ComEd and other agencies helped clear hazards, address utility issues and check properties. EMA used a drone Monday to survey the damage and provided information to the National Weather Service for its assessment. The Lee County tornado occurred east of Amboy and had estimated maximum winds of 90 mph. A second EF1 tornado was confirmed north of Streator in LaSalle County with estimated winds of 95 mph. The third EF1 tornado was confirmed north and northwest of Ransom with estimated winds of up to 100 mph. The National Weather Service said additional survey and storm analysis work is continuing.
