Rochelle Approves Special Use Permit for Oil Recycling Facility

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council approved a special use permit for an oil recycling facility at 200 North Standard Oil Road. The facility will operate in an existing vacant industrial building on property zoned I-2 General Industrial. Recycling centers require a special use permit under the Rochelle Municipal Code. The Planning and Zoning Commission voted 5-0 on Aug. 3 to recommend approval. City officials said any future site improvements, including outdoor storage, fencing, lighting, signage and building changes, must meet city, building, fire and environmental requirements. A development agreement will allow the property owner to complete required improvements in phases.
