One Charged After Solar Farm Burglary in DeKalb County

KINGSTON — DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputies arrested one person Wednesday after recovering about $120,000 in tools and equipment stolen from a solar farm construction site near Route 72 and Pleasant Hill Road. Deputies responded around 7 a.m. after the equipment was reported stolen overnight from a construction trailer. Detectives followed a tip to Rockford, where, with assistance from the Rockford Police Department, investigators executed a search warrant at a home in the 4000 block of 11th Street. Authorities recovered all of the stolen property and took a 63-year-old man into custody. Rick D. Thompson was charged with Class 1 felony theft and was taken to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, where he was being held pending a detention hearing. The investigation remains ongoing.
