Rochelle Considers Resident Only Parking on Part of Ninth Avenue

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council will consider an ordinance Monday night creating a resident only parking zone on the south side of Ninth Avenue between Third Street and Main Street. City officials said residents requested the change because employees, patients and visitors to Rochelle Community Hospital frequently park along the residential block, making it difficult for homeowners and their guests to find nearby parking. Parking is already limited because the narrow street allows parking on only one side. If approved, the ordinance would reserve those spaces for residents while hospital staff and visitors would be expected to use the hospital’s existing parking lots.
