ROCHELLE – The 100 Women Who Care group in Ogle County is continuing to make a positive impact by supporting local charities. The group, which began in 2020, now has 111 members who gather four times a year to donate $100 each to a local charity. Deanna Forrest, President and Founder, said the members seek out worthy causes to support.
“Each person writes out a check for $100 at the meeting,” she said. “We listen to three presenters, and then we invite them to come and tell us why they would like to have the money and so on, and then we vote, and all of the money goes directly to that charity.”
Their next meeting will be April 8th at the Lincoln Arts Center in Rochelle at 6 PM. Presenting that evening will be the Hub Senior Center in Rochelle, the United Way of Ogle County, and the Community Action Network of Rochelle.
Since its formation, the group has donated over $105,000 to local organizations such as Serenity Home, CASA, and the Rochelle Christian Food Pantry. Members and guests are welcome to attend and participate in the charity selection process.
